Welcome to the Book Club Kit reservation system.
1. About Book Club Kits and KitKeeper
Standard Book Club Kits include 15 paperback books, a discussion guide, and a sign-out sheet in an easy-to-carry canvas tote bag. There are often other resources included such as a DVD, large print copies and/or an audiobook. Check the Contents note found in the full display of each kit.
You can use this system, KitKeeper, to select and reserve a Book Club Kit for your book club. All you need is a library card in good standing from an MVLC library. Those who run multiple book clubs each year will be happy to know that reservations for specific kits can be made up to two years in advance.
When you find and reserve a Book Club Kit you can select any MVLC library at which to pick up your kit when it is ready. They are checked out for six weeks. There are no renewals; however, if there are no reservations for the next six week period, you may check out the kit again.
It is very important to return your Book Club Kit on time. Often, other people will be waiting to use the kit in the time period immediately after yours. Because of the tight reservation system a kit must be returned at its assigned due date no matter what day it was finally received.
The time and resources used to create and manage Book Club Kits is considerable. Like any other library material the person checking out an item will be responsible for the complete return of all pieces of the kit without damage. A lost Book Club Kit is valued at $150. Lost or damaged pieces will be billed at cost.
With almost 300 titles available you have a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction for adults, teens, and children. If you have suggestions for new Book Club Kits, would like to donate materials or money, or have additional questions about Book Club Kits, please contact your local library.
2. Searching for a Book Club Kit
There are 3 ways to search for a kit:
A. Look through the list of kits
The first selection on the Book Club Kits home page will allow you to search through all available kits at MVLC Libraries by using various criteria. Click the large list icon or the GO button to access the search page.
There are four drop-down menus (A) that you may select as your search criteria. You can select one drop-down or many. If you do not want to use a drop-down, leave it as the "ALL..." entry.
Below that are three drop-down menus (B) for displaying and sorting your results:
Click SELECT after choosing an option from the dropdowns to get your results.

B. Select a Kit and look for available dates
If you know the title of a kit and you want to see when it is available, go to the second selection on the Book Club Kits home page. Look through the drop-down menu, select the title and click GO.
A new window will open showing calendars of the upcoming months. You can use the drop-down at the top of the screen to jump to a specific month/year or you can scroll down to view upcoming months. Dates that are available will have a blue "RESERVE" link on them, dates that are not available will be blank.

C. Select a date and see what kits are available.
The third selection on the Book Club Kit Home Page will allow you to view which kits are currently available for a certain date or time period. Select a month from the drop-down menu and click GO.
A new window will open with a calendar on the left. When you hover over a date, available kits will show in the right panel. You can quickly hover over one date after another to scan the titles or use the drop-down menus at the top to limit your results. Once you find a date and kit you would like click on the date. Titles in the right panel will now become reservation links. Click the title you want to reserve.

A calendar will come up to show when the kit is available. Dates that are available will have a blue RESERVE link on them, dates that are not available will be blank. In this example, the kit not available December 3-6, 2018, but is available the rest of the month.
Click RESERVE for the date that you would like to pick. Enter your barcode and PIN/Password and click Submit.
If your login was successful, you will see a confirmation message. If your card is not verified, please contact your local library to find a solution to the problem. Click continue.
In this screen some information will be pre-filled from your library account; however, make sure to check the phone and email information and correct if necessary. If you do not have a phone number and/or email, click the unavailable link to the right of the box. Then select the library from whom you would like to pick up the kit.
Finally, click the Reserve this Kit button. A reservation confirmation will appear. If you included your email, this will also be emailed to you as well.
You are done! Close the window or click Return to KitKeeper Main Menu to continue looking at kits.
4. Verifying or Cancelling a Book Club Kit with "My Kits"
To verify your reservation or cancel it, click on My Kits at the bottom of the Book Club Kits Home Page.
Enter your barcode and PIN/Password and click Submit.
If your login was successful, you will see a confirmation message. If your card is not verified, please contact your local library to find a solution to the problem. Click continue.
You will see the kits that are on reserve for you. To see the details of your reservation click Show.
A new window will open showing the Kit Information, Patron Information, and Details of Use.
To cancel your reservation click Delete. You will be prompted to verify the cancellation, click OK.
If the kit successfully deletes, you will be taken back to your main kit page and will see no reservations if you canceled the only one you had or you will see future reservations that you did not cancel.
